Pontoon Group 40-45 at Nederlands Stoommachinemuseum (Netherlands Steam Machine Museum)

On the 2nd of August, we had chosen a trip to the Nederlands Stoommachinemuseum (Netherlands Steam Machine Museum)

After we had been round the museum, messed around with steam engines, and visited the beach, a little activity was awaiting us round the back......

Re-cap Day 12 - Wednesday 7th August

After 12 Days, and 11 nights our time at the Haarlem Jamborette would now be measured in hours
We were booked on the Bus to Schiphol , leaving at 11:30am, so the main task was to clear the site
Most of the tents had been taken down the previous day, so the main task was to get it all back in the van

Soon it was time for our Russian friends to say goodbye

not long after that the Site,Haarlem Jamborette, Subcamp Rusty Railrood, sites A9+A10 were mostly clear, and unexpectedly we were running ahead of Schedule a little
With a litte bit of time to spare,  I mentioned that there could be a chance that a few things might still be open in the main arean/jambo boulevard area, and after walking over there, the Tuck shop and a few other bits were still functioning - selling off some remains

Soon  after that it was time to Leave, and for one last time exit via Gate C, to the Coach/bus pick up/drop off point, all that was left of our campsite, was bare ground and a few patches where the tents/table etc had stood for the last 11 nights (plus Daves bags - they all made it back to the UK )

And then it was time to go
Check in at Schiphol

And thats that, almost.....

Quick video from Haarelm Jamborette: Last day on site

And with that, thats the end of the end of day re-caps from the 2019 Haarlem Jamborette.
The original intention was to do these on site, at the end of each day, during the day at the Haarlem Jamborette, when I had the chance  Drafts were created, with a few photos/videos loaded, with the intention of fleshing them out at the end of the day and then posting them.
The reality was that most of the drafts were created, however the end of day tidying up, and sorting out of the blog drafts  didnt quite work, as the need to sleep won out.
 Hence the post camp updates.

Theres still a little bit more to come, so keep an eye on this blog. ( another post tomorow) But for now its time to go back down the Scout hut, to continue clearing up the debris from the camp, the HQ currently looks like this ( as of 21st August 2019)

Re- cap : Day 11, Tuesday 6th August

Day 11 of our Holland camp, and the 10th and final day of Activities, at the Haarlem Jamborette as the next day we would be headed for home

Edit this was created from a draft originaly put together at the Haarlem jamborette, as a result the photos are out of order, the ones below should have been in the middle of the blog post

last breakfast

The Final morning Flag break

And then onto a little scheme, Apparently Two of the Scouts didn't like public speaking, or being on a stage in front of any number of people, so a few days prior it was arranged for them to be on stage during the main sub camp flag break to make the birthday announcements,

After thhat there was a short time before acitivity start, so it was time to start dismantling the camp, starting with the table

Then onto the activity session - Arts and Crafts

And then, the Last leaders meeting,

And then , onto the Closing this link should open up youtube at the right place

https://youtu.be/U5T8eeOMzng?t=1444

Or you can view the whole thing here, it starts about 24 minutes into the stream

One last Look at the Mokkie from 2019

And on the last night, the Scouts slept under the stars, luckily it was mostly dry ( apart form a very brief light shower)

And that was it, the end of Day 11, Next up Day 12 - the journey home

Monday 5th August Recap

Day 10..... Monday 5t august
 Jambo Tours- Walibi World.
Walibi World is a Theme park in Holland, and not a wildlife centre dedicated to jumping marsupials
Website:Walibi Holland (english) website

The day started slightly earlier as we had to be at the bus point by Gate C early, after a visit to  the subcamp food supply tent/fridge to stock up on our breakfast items, and make sandwiches to take to the theme park we were soon on the bus

The bus journey was just over an hour, and even though it was an early start, and getting on towards the end of the camp the bus going was a little more lively than some of the other trips out ( probably had something to do with visiting a theme park)

Once inside the park, we headed to the first coaster, Brand new ( almost) opening just a month before we visited was Untamed, This is whats known as an RMC conversion it started out as a Vekoma manufactured wooden coaster called Robin hood it wasnt a bad coaster, but then again it wasnt exceptional - just a little rough.
Over last winter the ride was re furbished with a new layout, and new track, by RMC ( look out for coasters modified by this company if travelling anywhere)

Lost Gravity

Towards the end of the Queue lines at Walibi are some clear boxes, these contain broken phones etc that have been recovered from the rides, that have either been dropped or have fallen out of pockets

Express platform 13,  the Queue line takes the form of a scare maze as you walk through a semi derelict /demolished railway station with wreckage everywhere, and special effects, the coaster itself ( apart form the launch) is pretty average, its not often you get a queue line thats better than the coaster

To get round the park, you will find a few little shortcuts, such as this raft which you pull yourself along using a rope

Some of us then went onto the log flume, which features a section that goes backwards,

Dave was the only one to get soaked, everyone else escaped with a few splashes

All too soon it was time to head back for the bus, all the Scouts made it back on time, and on the return journey we had a film, Zootopia, (in English with Dutch subtitles)

When the film had finished the Scouts soon flaked out

This is the Subcamp phone charging station, phones left at own risk!!! if using the charge station, i would strongly recomend that you do not charge a phone here, but instead use it to charge a powerbank

And the usual leaders meeting, now focusing on the end of the camp, departures and so on :(

The Mokkie on the other hand was as lively as ever, open up to 11pm for all (ie Scouts / under 18's) and then from 11:10 to 1:15am for over 18's only

The next day, would be the final day of Activities at the 2019 Haarlem Jamborette, and would see us on Arts, Crafts and Technology, before the main Closing and end disco
