Re-union get together postponed

We have become aware that the Haarlem Jamborette re-union, planned for Saturday the 3rd of December has clashed with a few other events,

and as a result not many people would have been able to attend.

Because of this Dave, Helen, and myself have taken the decision to postpone the re-union until the new year,

and the new Date is Saturday the 14th of January, at the plough inn Utoxeter from 7pm onwards

In case your not already aware the evening is a chance for Scouts, their parents and families to get together

and to see what exactly we got up during our 12 days in Holland over the Summer.

As there will be a buffet provided we would need an idea of numbers, Camp participants will be able to attend for free,

but there will be a nominal charge of £2.00 towards the buffet for others.

A Letter with a return slip/return and some information will be issued shortly.

There is also a new(ish) visoe on youtube featuring some familiar faces, uploaded by the TV film crew who were at the haarlem jamborette, alot of it is in Dutch, but theres still quite a bit in English
you can view it by clicking here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qd1qoEu2hEw

Every night...

At the Haarlem Jamborette the evening activities and events went on until 11, this is a short video from the mokkie Club recharge, Each night there was a different Band, or Club DJ playing many differetn types of music.
This video is from the Sensation White party ( wear something white) which happened early on in the camp ( if it was any later in the camp then wear something white may not have been possible)

There was an aluminium deck floor in all the large tents, in club recharge you could feel this floor moving when all the Scouts and some of the leaders started dancing.

End of Day 12 report from Wednesday 10th of August

!2 days, from flying out, to returning back to the UK - over so fast.
anyways this is what happened on our last day at Spaarnwoude, on the Site of the Haarlem Jamborette.

Following the Closing ceremony the Scouts were all back at the camp at just gone midnight, and within minutes they were all quite, and in their tents.
The Next morning started as most of the previous mornings, with a trip to the subcamp food distribution tent to collect our food for Breakfast and lunch, and it was sunny - not only that but the puddle that turned into a lake ( which flooded our area ) was showing positive signs of drying up

So after Breakfast it was all go, the tents had to be down, and in Tor-Ingers van, and the Scouts had a short amount of time to say goodbye to our Norwegian Freinds, and share a few e-mail addresses/facebook contacts and so on

And then it was time to start dismantling the table, this came down easily ( and safely!) and we retrned to poles back to the storage area

At the Same time the tents had to be down, as well, and then that was it, everything away, and time to say Goodbye to our Norwegian friends, from Stavanger, Madla.

Soon after that it was also time for Melbourne and Eccleshall Scouts to go our separate ways, We ( Melbourne ) had an earlier flight than Eccleshall, so Melbourne had a few more hours on site ( see photos in earlier posts )
Bye bye Eccleshall.

So from then we had some time to kill, Melbourne Scouts spent most of the rest of the morning crashed out lying by their kit bags, and so far so good, as it stayed dry.
After we had Lunch, i took the Scouts for a walk round what was left of the camp site, and on our travels round, up by the main arena we helped the campsite volunteers to remove some Fencing panels,

Pictured above: scouts helping dismantle the Haarlem Jamborette
On an Empty Stage
Receiving an ice lolly for helping out.
When we returned to what was our campsite, the weather had started to turn, so it was a quick move to the former Club re-charge tent, (which was being set out for a final party for the volunteer staff remaining on site) and as soon as we arrived the heavens opened and it began to  pour.
After an hour it was then time to leave get on the bus, and form their the airport and home ( see posts below)

So What About Eccleshall, who left earlier..
Helen one of the leaders said this
"
On the last day we got into Amsterdam - left our luggage in the lockers in the station then went into town - did a canal cruise for 1 hour (most of the Scouts went to sleep on there!) Then we went shopping at the same place as we did on our trip in the week. Then went back to the airport on a train (nightmare getting kit on and off!! Train nearly went with us still on board cus we couldnt fit through the doors and down the stairs!) Delayed until 11.20pm - finally arrived home in Eccy at 1.30am "

Thats it for today, more stuff tommorow - ive still got some video from the camp to upload to youtube, as well as some more youtube videos - some featuring some of our Scouts ( if you scroll down theres an early post about being filmed by Dutch TV - that interview is online or will be soon )
 Keep checking, more later.

Couldnt resist - one more post - a youtube video

During this haarlem jamborette an inter subcamp competition was running - collecting Jambo Joules, During the various activities the Scouts, and Leaders could earn Jambo Joules from the Haarlem Jamborette staff, for things like co-operation working well together looking out for each other, and general enthusiasm and taking part in the activities, and events.
These were small white tokens which were weighed at the end of each day, and you could see how many had been earned by looking at some clear tubes full of coloured liquid one tube, and one colour for each subcamp, the higher the level, the greater the amount of Jambo Joules collected.
In the End our Subcamp, Subkamp Haarlem ( Romans ) won.

All back home

and with it the relative luxury of a UK keyboard.

Theres still loads more stuff that will be added to this blog over the next few days ( or more!!) so although everyone is back at home, keep checking back here for updates.
More later ( or tomorrow )......

Landed

At east midlands. Baggage claim next.

All on the plane

And heading back to the uk, last update from Holland.

Cleared security

And waiting...........

Scouts at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

Guess whee they went?

Photos

That may be the last photo for a while, aleph I've got loads of photos and some videos to add once I'm in the uk
Updates about our progress wil continue in text

Airport 1st melbourne

We've cleared check in, passport, and are now in departures, the scouts have just under an hour to visit the shops.

Schiphol

Just about to arrive at the airport

Left site.

Were now on the bus to the airport

Where are Eccleshall

We have now split, and said our goodbyes, eccleshall scouts have a later flight than us so they are spending the day in Amsterdam (good luck to them!)

Change location

So the tents have gone, and with them our shelter, and now it's raining so we have moved to what was club recharge, and there are tables and benches

It's our last hour on camp  and soon the bus will be here to take us to the airport.

Lunch

All the tents tables and equipment have now gone, and weve made an ad hoc kitchen for lunch

Tents down

All the tents are now down the tables down, and soon we wil be moving to a temporary tent.

Packing up

Tents and table are down

Packing away

Were in the process of packing up camp, as the Norwegian kit needs to be on a trailer by 11am local time.
Then it's the last big job, dismantling the table and returning the poles.
After that free time.
More later.

Morning, day 12

And later we are going home, last breakfast at the haarlem jamborette

End of day 11

Its been another full on day, with the scouts out on various and not so obvious crazy craft activities.
The closing ceremony was excellent, and was followed up with a disco, and late night tuck shop, all the scouts are now in bed, and it won't be long before the leaders are asleep, daves already fast asleep as we can hear him snoring.
So tomorow its time to clear up, the tents must be down by 10am, and the table not long after that, with all the poles going back to where they came from.
Then we will have some free time, until the bus picks us up at 4pm, (melbourne  eccleshall  leave us at 11am) and takes us to schiphol  and from there home.

so from a clear , moonlit star laden final night at  the 11th Haarlem jamborette, goodnight - day 12 tomorow.

Getting ready to start

The rest of the Souts are out and about getting ready to start, more photos later.

As for the weather, its still quite muddy on site, and dave has managed to fall over in the mud at least twice each day ( no other leaders have yet managed this - nor have any Scouts ) we curretnly have blue skies and sun, with no more than the odd fluffy cloud, with the odd light shower.

One of the explorers from Melbourne got a message in the jambo journal (camp newsletter) last night these can all be read online at http://issuu.com/jamborette

Tonight its the closing ceremony which finishes at midnight, then its the last night here at the Haarlem Jamborette in Holland, as tommorow we all head for home, all being well this blog will be updated right up until the end, following Melbourne on their return trip.
